Harriet Walker Psychology

Dr Harriet Walker

DPsych, MSc, BA

I am a chartered Counselling Psychologist with experience working with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. These include challenges such as anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem, as well as specialist experience in phobias, eating difficulties, and body dysmorphic disorder. My eating disorder experience spans 8 years, across both NHS and private settings, supporting adults and young people experiencing anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.

I also work with children and adolescents more broadly, supporting them with the unique difficulties they may face and I am passionate about supporting young people navigate how these may impact their mental health.

My priority is to offer a warm and thoughtful space, where you feel safe and comfortable to talk openly about your experiences and concerns. I believe building an honest therapeutic relationship is fundamental to making sense of what you are going through and working towards meaningful change.

I work collaboratively, beginning with developing a shared understanding of your difficulties before exploring how we might approach them together. My practice draws on a range of psychological models to ensure the work is tailored to you as an individual. Our sessions will always be guided by your needs, and I will be active and transparent in sharing my thoughts to support deeper exploration and meaningful self-reflection.

"I found my time with Dr Walker to be incredibly insightful and comforting. She was flexible in both how we scheduled appointments and also with the structure of the sessions, allowing me to guide how she went about supporting me and exploring the difficulties I was having. I liked how she drew from a few different areas of thought and provided useful materials for me to action her suggestions outside of appointments. I couldn’t recommend her more."
